Durga is Durgatinasini; she is the one who removes ignorance, or Durgati, and leads people to Sadgati, or wisdom. Durga, a symbol of divine power and cosmic energy, has enormous spiritual significance in Hinduism. She mounted a Lion and killed the evil Mahisasura is revered as the Mahisasur-Mardini Durga representing the triumph of good over evil.
Types of Goddess Durga Statues-
The Goddess is depicted in many forms through various mediums and materials. Her Brass, Bronze, Copper, Wood, and Stone statues all have a special status in terms of reverence and artistic sense. Her most popular form is her Dashabhujadharini (ten-armed) form riding a lion and killing the demon Mahisasur. This form is specially worshipped during the Sharadiya Durga puja held in September- October. She is also worshipped in various forms during the Navratri appearing twice a year. She is also depicted as Asthabhujadharini (eight-armed) and Chaturbhujadharini (four-armed). The statues with different numbers of arms come with different weapons like a string of beads (japmala), a war axe, mace, arrow, thunderbolt, lotus, bow, waterpot, cudgel, lance, sword, shield, conch, bell, trident, goblet, noose, and the Sudarshan Chakra in each hand.
Significance of the Goddess Durga Statues-

The Brass, Bronze, and Copper statues are durable and are preferred by the devotees to be placed in their personal worship spaces. The wooden and stone statues are magnificent but often larger and placed in open spaces or temples.
