A brilliant representation of the compassion of Avalokiteshvara, this eleven-headed form of the Bodhisattva is one of the most popular and potent statues from Nepal. In the center of the composition is Avalokiteshvara with eight hands, standing with great poise with his eleven heads stacked on each other. Surrounding the icon are Avalokiteshvara’s thousand arms, signifying his cosmic presence around the devotee. The Bodhisattva stands on a lotus platform which is placed on a royal stage with the Chepu motif on each side, symbolizing the might of Avalokiteshvara in the world of Himalayan Buddhism.
