Padmasambhāva, often referred to as Guru Rinpoche or the Lotus Born, emerged as a revered tantric Buddhist Vajra master from ancient India, propagating the teachings of Vajrayana in the realm of Tibet. In the composition's upper segment, Padmasambhava graces the scene, donning a yellow hat and gracefully clutching a vajra scepter in his right hand, while cradling a serene white skullcup in his left, securely nested in his lap.
The presence of a khatvanga Tantric staff leans against his left shoulder, a symbol of his spiritual authority. Standing on his right side is Mandarava, while on the left stands Yeshe Tsogyal, both integral figures in his journey.
